2017 Most Affordable Online Colleges

Doane University has been recognized by SR Education Group for being included in their rankings for the 2017 Most Affordable Online Master’s Degrees. Doane ranks fourth on the list for the Online Master’s of Education program with an annual tuition of $5,490 for a full-time student pursuing a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction.


SR Education Group is a leading education research publisher that researches and ranks hundreds of colleges based on value, quality, and affordability.


The rankings are the culmination of the group’s research into the affordability of online master’s programs across a variety of subjects. The average annual tuition rate of the ranked schools for all programs is $11,130, just over double what tuition costs for the online Master’s of Education program at Doane.


The methodology for the rankings considers online degree offerings and annual tuition rates. SR Education Group researched accredited colleges offering online degrees across 29 programs to compile the lists.


Doane is one of three schools in Nebraska to make the Most Affordable Online Master’s of Education degree list, with Chadron State and Peru State College also receiving recognition.


Doane’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program consists of 36 credit hours of coursework, with a maximum of 12 credit hours allowed to be transferred in (meeting Doane’s criteria for graduate credit). The Curriculum and Instruction program gives special attention to the needs of K-12 teachers, with many classes offered in K-12 schools across Nebraska for students who do not wish to take classes online.


Candidates who currently have or have held a Nebraska certificate in elementary, secondary, or middle-grades education can work towards endorsements in Early Childhood, English as a Second Language, Reading Specialist, and Special Education.


In total, Doane offers six different graduate and certificate programs in the Education department, including:

  • Curriculum and Instruction

  • Educational Leadership

  • Education Specialist

  • Doctorate of Education

  • Counseling with Emphasis in School Counseling

  • Initial Program at Advanced Level
