Doane Playwright Participates in New Artists Festival

Doane senior Brian Varvaro of Nebraska City presented one of his plays at the University of Nebraska's annual New Artists Festival held earlier this month.

The New Artists Festival (NAF) celebrates new and unpublished work written, performed, directed, and designed by students and young theatre practitioners.

Varvaro's play, Variation on a Police Line Up, is about a woman who is asked to identify her husband's murderer in a police line-up, while the audience sees the scene performed in a variety of manners.

Seven shows were selected to be shown at the four-night event put on by Theatrix, a student producing organization affiliated with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film.

Varvaro presented his play Feb. 22-24 in the Temple Building on the UNL campus.
