Doane Places Fifth in Opener

The Tiger men's cross country season started in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday morning and Doane came away with a fifth place finish at the Nike Heartland Pre-Regional Meet. Iowa Western CC won the meet with 56 points while the Tigers posted 106 points.

Edwin Ronoh led the Doane charge with a third place finish as he ran a time of 26:56.76. Jarid Holliday placed seventh overall with a time of 27:10.34. Jamil Chehade placed 37th for the Tigers and ran a time of 29:40.61.

Doane had four runners finish in a group. Steve Jerina ran a time of 29:46.82 and placed 41st in the meet. Zach Christensen placed 42nd and posted a time of 29:50.01 to round out the Tiger's Top Five runners.

Omar Fernandez placed 43rd in the meet with a time of 29:52.65 and Jordan Pieper was 44th with a time of 29:53.23.

Also running for Doane were Jory Pflasterer (56th, 30:23.57), Matt Rosser (74th, 31:51.50), Zach Sims (76th, 32:42.10) and Andrew Ohlson (78th, 32:49.33).
