Doane, NHCC to host inaugural diversity & inclusion summit
In partnership with the Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Doane University will host the inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Summit on Monday, April 23 from 8:00am – Noon at Doane University’s Perry Campus Memorial Center.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity to learn from thought leaders, network with colleagues and community members, and to reflect on the impact diversity and inclusion has in our society. Topics of discussion led by researchers and diversity and inclusion professionals include:
- Demographic trends across Nebraska – David Drozd, Center for Public Affairs Research
- How higher education, nonprofits, and private industry work together towards inclusion – Yesenia Peck, President, Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
- Uncovering and managing unconscious bias – Pam Alfrey Hernandez, The Right Reflection
- How to navigate conversations across divides – Cammy Watkins, Inclusive Communities
“Our inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Summit will provide a common space for our community to learn how to strengthen inclusive excellence,” said Luis Sotelo, chief diversity officer at Doane. “This is truly a unique opportunity to have so many stakeholders and thought leaders in one room to learn from each other.”
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Nebraska is a registered provider of the Society of SHRM and this summit offers Professional Development Credits (PDC’s) to employees working in the Human Resources field.
