Doane Names Donald M. Campbell To Board of Trustees
A native of Lincoln, Don spent his first two college years as an undergraduate at Doane, a member of Doane's class of 1961. He then completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning a Bachelor of Science in engineering. He continued his education at Stanford University, completing an MBA in 1965.
He began his business career in the 1960s as a financial executive in both private and public companies. Since 1975, Don has worked as a consultant in business finance and as founder and principal of leasing and finance enterprises. In 1985 he co-founded Hambrecht and Quist Guaranty Finance (H&QGF), a venture lending business that provided loans to emerging technology and life science companies. He managed H&QGF until 2006, when he formed Guaranty Finance Investors to purchase its assets. He continues to manage Guaranty Finance Investors, which has invested very successfully around the world.
In 2004, Don co-founded Partners for Growth Managers, LLC (PfG), which was created to carry on the type of business done by H&QGF, providing custom debt solutions to private and public technology and life science companies.
Don brings a wealth of corporate finance and investment management knowledge to his role as trustee. Within technology companies, he has been a financial analyst and a financial planner, and has served as Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer in two public companies, listed on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, respectively. He has served on the boards of directors of numerous public and private companies, here and overseas.
He is currently a director of the Moneda Chile Fund, an investment company listed on the Bermuda Stock Exchange, which invests in smaller companies in Chile; and will soon join the board of an Australian Stock Exchange company, Quickflix, the largest company in Australia employing a business model similar to that of Netflix.
Don will serve on Doane's Board of Trustees and its Investment Committee. The Board of Trustees is a 36-member governing board that meets three times a year on Doane's Crete campus.
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve Doane as a Trustee, and hope that I can make a significant contribution on the Investment Committee. Doane has a very substantial Endowment on a per-student basis, and the growth and income from the Endowment provides support and stability in furtherance of the goals of the College," Don said.
