Doane Moves to 4-0 in GPAC Play

The Tigers used one big inning in each game to come away with a sweep of Mount Marty College in GPAC softball action on Sunday afternoon.

In game one, Doane plated four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and they tacked on two runs in each of the following innings to win 9-4.

Megan Steele threw a complete game, allowing eight hits over seven innings.  Her four runs surrendered were all unearned and she struck out three batters.

Offensively, four players collected two hits in the game.  Whitney Poole got the ball rolling in her leadoff spot as she scored twice.  Kristin Schmidt, Alyssa Ledon and Jennifer Montoya had two RBIs each.  Stephanie Mosley notched a pair of doubles for Doane.

A six-run third inning paced the Tigers to a 9-1 victory in game two.  Once again, Whitney Poole paced Doane with two hits and two runs.  Amber Remmers added two hits and two runs while Jennifer Liddell posted two hits and three RBIs.  Christy Kobza added two RBIs for Doane.

Liddell picked up the victory, throwing a complete game over five innings of work.  She allowed three hits and one run while striking out three.
