Doane Men Productive in First Meet

The Tiger men got the indoor track season off to a good start with five automatic qualifying marks set and one school record broken.

Paulvince Obuon, a transfer from the Virginia Military Institute, paced the way by finishing second in the 60 meter dash (0:06.72) and winning the 200 meter dash (0:21.56).  Both of his marks were automatic qualifying marks for the NAIA National Meet in March.  His victory in the 200 meter dash was also a school record as he topped the previous best performance set by Greg Ray in 1997 (0:21.63).

Lance Foster hit a qualifying mark in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:12.82.  The race was run at a distance of 600 yards, but his time converts to a qualifying time.

Foster teamed with Joel Bacon, Jess Wimmer and Greg Torres to qualify the 4x400 meter relay team.  They finished with a time of 3:19.17.  In 2006, they combined to set the school mark at the NAIA National Meet with a time of 3:14.25.

Torres ran a time of 1:55.72 to hit a qualifying mark in the 800 meter run.

Hitting provisional marks in the first meet of the season were Bacon (0:49.64, 400 meter run), John Holliday (1:14.04, 600 yard run) and Ben DeLay (mile, 4:23.10).
