Doane Hosts Scott Nisely Classic
The Tiger track & field season officially got underway for all athletes on Saturday as Doane hosted the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic at Fuhrer Field House. Two other teams joined the Tigers in opening the season, Hastings and Midland.
In women's action, the Tigers had nine event winners. Doane also notched four automatic marks and two provisional marks. Blair Dixon won the 55m and 200m dashes. In the 55m, she posted a time of 7.55 in the finals while totaling a time of 26.94 in the 200m.
Jessica Steinkamp won the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.99. Allison Hartnett claimed the 600m run with a time of 1:41.68. The 55m hurdles went to Jillian Ourada with a time of 8.69 in the finals. She posted a provisional mark in the prelims, running a time of 8.65.
Doane won the 4x400m relay with a team of Amanda Reetz, Amanda Woodward, Hartnett and Steinkamp. They ran a time of 4:10.60.
Steinkamp hit an automatic mark in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m (5-04.50). Leah Peterson won the pole vault with a mark of 3.35m (10-11.75). Tess Moyer claimed the long jump with a mark of 5.14m (16-10.50). Shelby Meier won the triple jump with a leap of 10.95m (35-11.25).
In the throws, Whitney Collins hit a pair of automatic marks. In the shot put, she had a throw of 13.04m (42-09.50) and in the weight throw she had a toss of 16.29m (53-05.50). Kelsee Meissner posted a provisional mark in the shot put with a throw of 12.76m (41-10.50). Haley Mondt posted an automatic mark in the weight throw with a toss of 15.68m (51-05.50).
On the men's side, Doane won 10 events with one automatic mark and three provision marks.
Ben McCaleb was a double winner, claiming the 55m dash in a time of 6.55 and the 200m with a time of 23.15. Alex Reynolds won the 400m dash with a time of 52.36.
Vince Martinez claimed the 600m run with a time of 1:25.45 and Edwin Ronoh won the 800m run with a time of 1:58.46. Jarid Holliday took the mile run with a time of 4:38.50.
Doane claimed the relays, winning the 4x400m with a time of 3:32.33 and the 4x800m with a time of 8:18.79.
In field events, Derek Wegner won the long jump with a mark of 6.86m (22-06.50). Brian Hubbert won the triple jump with a leap of 14.45m (47-05.00), an automatic qualifying mark.
Chase Trecek hit a provisional mark in the shot put with a heave of 15.41m (50-06.75). Zack Lindsley hit a provisional mark in the weight throw with a toss of 17.14m (56-03.00) as did Jacob Clouse with a mark of 17.10m (56-01.25).
