Doane Holds Off Defenders

Doane fell behind early, trailing by six just three minutes into the game, but rallied to defeat Dordt College, 82-69.  The Tigers received 20 points off the bench in the first half, nine from Amy Fox and seven from Desirae Albus.

The Tigers took a three point lead into halftime.  Doane battled back and forth with the Defenders most of the second half before taking their first double digit lead with a little more than five minutes left to play in the game.  A key for the Tigers was that Dordt only shot 57 percent from the free throw line.  Doane went 20-of-28 while Dordt was 20-of-35 for the game.

Lindsay Anderson led all scorers, posting 21 points for the Tigers.  Vanessa Munter went for 18 points in the Doane win.  Nicole Anderson joined Lindsay Anderson for game-high honors with four assists.  Munter led Doane with eight rebounds.  The Tigers out-rebounded Dordt 46-37 after the Defenders held the edge a year ago, 53-36.

Dordt was led by Amber Soodsma's 19 points.  Kate Du Mez and Kara Karlsgodt added 12 points each.  McKinzie Schmidt posted a game-high 11 rebounds to go with her eight points.
