Doane Falls in Season Opener
The Doane men's basketball team dropped their season opener, falling to Lindenwood University 71-63 in Crete.
Doane got off to a hot start, hitting five of their first seven shot attempts to jump out to a 13-3 lead over the Lions. However, Doane cooled off and hit 9-of-32 shots the rest of the first half and took a 35-32 lead into halftime. The Tigers were aided by a cold Lindenwood squad that shot 29-percent in the first half.
The second half belonged to the Lions as they shot 46-percent from the floor and 60-percent from three-point range (6-of-10). Doane was 11-of-30 from the floor in the second half as the Lions held the Tigers to 28 points.
Doane was led by Jack Lind's 14 points while Tyler Cyboron and Jake Johnson added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Tyler Schlautman posted a team-high eight rebounds. Schlautman and Johnson collected four assists apiece.
Lindenwood was led by Richard Rose's 15 points while Tyler Donaldson and Jason Schneider added 11 point each. Shane Williams posted a game-high nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
Doane will host Clarke College at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, in game two of the Tiger Classic. Clarke lost to Hastings College on Friday, 105-100, in the first game of the classic.
