Doane Falls at St. Mary

The Tiger women's basketball team suffered a 65-53 loss at College of St. Mary on Saturday evening, dropping them to 1-1 on the year.

Doane was hurt by turnovers and free throw shooting and that allowed the Flames to come away victorious in their home opener. Doane committed 20 turnovers and shot 55-percent from the free throw line.

Doane had three players with 12 points apiece, Kristine Ortmeier, Cheryl Braithwait and Brittany Luettel. Luettel also led the Tigers with seven rebounds in the game. Brittany Lurz led the team with three assists and Braithwait had a team-high two steals.

College of St. Mary was led by Kelsey Hesse and Olivia Grigg as both players posted 18 points and five rebounds apiece.

Doane will travel to No. 10 Sterling College on November 8.
