Collins Earns GPAC Honor

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following women's indoor track & field athletes-of-the-week for January 10 - January 16, 2011. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2010-2011 GPAC players-of-the-week and players and coaches-of-the-year awards program.

Field Events - Whitney Collins, Doane
Doane's Whitney Collins is the field athlete-of-the-week. Collins, a junior from Prague, Nebraska, hit automatic NAIA marks in the weight throw twice over the weekend with her top mark of 16.28 meters coming at the Nebraska-Lincoln Holiday Inn Invite. She also hit a provisional mark in the shot put with a third place finish throwing 12.76 meters.

Track Events - Ashley Unruh, Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls' Ashley Unruh is the track athlete-of-the-week. Unruh, a junior from Freeman, South Dakota, snapped the school record by 14 seconds in the 3,000 meters posting a time of 10:26.99 at the Dordt Invitational. Her time tops the GPAC charts for the fastest time in this event so far this year. Unruh also finished fourth in the mile run with a time of 5:29.20.
