Academic calendar adjusted for spring semester on Crete campus
Doane University’s academic calendar will be adjusted for the Crete campus this spring, Provost Dr. Paul Savory announced in a message to the Doane Community on Wednesday, October 14.
The adjustments include:
Spring Break, originally scheduled for March 15 - March 19, will be cancelled
There will be three planned off days for students and faculty in the spring:
Wednesday, February 10
Tuesday, March 9
Thursday, April 29
The semester will begin on Monday, January 18 and end on Thursday, May 13, as previously scheduled. The planned day off for Monday, April 5 (Easter weekend) will remain.
Doane’s Spring Commencement ceremony will occur on Saturday, May 15. The ceremony is planned to be held outside on the Crete campus.
There are no changes being made to the academic calendar for Doane’s non-residential students for the Lincoln and Omaha locations, or online programs. The Winter II term will begin on Monday, January 18 and end on Saturday, March 13. The Spring term will begin on Monday, March 15 and end Saturday, May 15.
Similarly, the academic calendar for Graduate Studies in Education will also not change.
These changes to the academic calendar for students on the Crete campus is done to prioritize the health and wellness of the Doane community. Travel that may occur over spring break could significantly enhance the risk of someone contracting and/or spreading COVID-19. By eliminating spring break, the university is in a better position to operate safely and maintain the health and wellness of our students, faculty, and staff.
