Family Diversity Projects, a non-profit educational organization, will bring a touring art exhibit created to lessen homophobia to Doane College Nov. 3-15.
The display in Doane's Chab Weyers Education and Hixson Lied Art Building is titled "LOVE MAKES A FAMILY: Portraits of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People and their Families."
It portrays gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their families of all races in familiar family settings, with the goal of showing the love and caring of these families in a positive way.
The photos include edited text depicting what each picture represents.
Family Diversity projects of Amherst, Mass., started the touring display in 1996. It has been in more than 1,000 communities nationwide, in universities, schools, libraries, corporate headquarters, state houses and houses of worship. The exhibit may also be seen in the book display published by the University of Massachusetts Press.
