Alumni Awards

Doane has established numerous awards to recognize alumni and friends of the university for their professional accomplishments, outstanding achievements, community service, leadership and continued relations with the university. The Alumni Awards Banquet Ceremony will take place in Perry Campus Center on Sunday, October 3rd at noon. This event is open to all alumni and reservations should be made by September 22nd. The 2021 Recipients are:

  • Paul Kersenbrock Humanitarian Award: Nathan Woods ’18L
    Given in the memory of Paul Dean Kersenbrock '63, and will be presented to a worthy Doane alumnus, who in the judgment of the Alumni Council distinguishes himself or herself by extraordinary, unselfish dedication and service to others in his/her work and lifestyle.
  • Exceptional Service Award: Eric Cantrell ’00
    Recognizes an alumnus or alumni who has or have provided extraordinary service to forward the cause of Doane University through his or her volunteer efforts.
  • Young Alumni Award: Tracy Agena Pella ’07, ’10C
    Honors Doane graduates who are 35 years of age or younger for demonstration of and lasting commitment to the highest ideals and models of excellence exemplified by Doane University
  • Educator of the Year: Patrick Moore ’03, ’07E, ’11E, ’18E
    Presented to alumni who have made outstanding contributions in the field of education. Recipient is selected by the education department. 
  • Platt Music Award: Bernice Jeffries ’60 (posthumously awarded)
    Presented to alumni for outstanding achievement in music. Recipient is selected by the music department. 
  • Honor D Award: James Beatty, Jr. ’70
    Presented to former Doane athletes who have distinguished themselves by outstanding service in their life's work.
  • Doane Builder Award: Pat ’79 and Ellen Holstein ’80 Beans
    Presented to alumni who have distinguished themselves and Doane through outstanding achievement, professional accomplishments, community service and their relationship with the university. This is considered the highest award an alumnus of the university can receive.
