Doane College was founded as the first of college of its type in Nebraska more than 140 years ago, and we believe our adult learning program is one-of-a-kind, too.
From our roots on the prairie to our innovative programs for working adults, Doane has carved its own niche in the landscape of higher education.
Our curriculum for working adults is predicated on the same liberal arts principles—inquiry, engagement and practice—we’ve perfected since 1872. We cultivate classroom environments that are as much about our faculty’s expertise as they are about the value in you and your classmates’ life experiences. Together, students can unlock a whole new way of thinking and apply it immediately to their careers and lives through both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
We established our first adult learner campus in Lincoln in 1981, a time when it was cutting edge for a liberal arts college to include working adults as part of its mission. In 2003, we expanded our reach to Grand Island with another campus specifically and designed to meet the needs of adult learners and graduate students. Eleven years later, we brought our unique approach, conveniently scheduled classes and high-quality faculty to Omaha, putting Doane in three of Nebraska’s largest metro areas.
Each year, more than 2,000 students enroll in our adult learning programs, fitting education into their busy lives because Doane makes it easy, affordable and worthwhile.
