Frequently Asked Questions?

Electronic Promise to Pay - Statement Replacing the Promissory Note
I understand that by pressing "submit" on this page and/or using WebAdvisor to register for classes, I am completing the course registration process. Unless I take timely and official actions to drop or withdraw from these classes, I will be billed accordingly, and indebted to Doane University for the appropriate tuition and fees. I promise to pay this amount to Doane University in accordance with the University's payment policies, which allow for this delayed payment as a loan for the period until due under such policies set forth in the Doane University catalogs. If I do not pay, I understand I am not eligible to receive my official transcripts or a diploma from Doane until my student account is paid in full.

I'm having trouble logging into the Register-Me page?

Different web browsers have different issues.  If you can't get logged in try putting the word 'crete/' in front of your log-in name, for example  crete/john.doe.

What is a promissory note?

A promissory note is your promise to pay your tuition bill.  Doane, unlike other schools, requires no tuition payment prior to the term starting, therefore we need you to agree that you plan to pay us.

Why can't I register over the phone?  Why can't I email my registration to my advisor?

To eliminate "formal registration" (the three day period where students were required to come in and sign a promissory note) we need students to agree to the payment terms each term with an electronic submit button.  Attending Doane creates a financial obligation.  We feel it is important that students understand and acknowledge the financial responsibilities associated with attendance.

I'm receiving Financial Aid, do I have to do this?

Financial aid monies are not put on students accounts until after the term starts.  The previous term's grades need to be verified and each student reviewed to ensure good academic standing and that financial aid eligibility is being maintained.  Therefore you are starting courses each term without making a payment and need to agree to pay.

Will I have to agree to this each term?

Yes, each term you will owe Doane a different amount determined by the courses you register for.  Each term's registration is considered to be a separate commitment or "purchase" for which a student must accept financial responsibility.
