Bringing a lifelong passion for travel to Doane, Lee Wilbur '99 squeezed three bachelors' degrees (French, German, international studies) and three semesters abroad (Le Havre, France; Göttingen, Germany; Freiburg, Germany) into his undergraduate years at the Crete campus. It led him to spend the majority of his professional life outside of the U.S., starting as the first of Doane's Fulbright Scholars to ever work in South Korea. He worked with the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps before beginning his career with the U.S. Foreign Service, and he is now a consular officer for the U.S. Department of State.
While transferring from his last assignment (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) to his current post (Calgary, Canada), he visited the Crete campus to catch up with faculty and speak to current students. Read his story in the online version of Doane Magazine here.
