David Swartzlander, the Journalism and Media Department chairman, is an associate professor of practice in Journalism and Media, and the adviser to the student newspaper, The Doane Owl; 1014 Magazine; and the student news website, Doaneline. He teaches Basic News Writing and Reporting, Beat Reporting, Editing and Design, Multiplatform Journalism and Introduction to Magazine Publishing.
