The purpose of the Society of Physics Students is the advancement and diffusion of knowledge of physics, the encouragement of interest in physics throughout the academic and local communities, and the introduction of students to the professional community. The Society of Physics Students is a national organization for any college student interested in physics. The Doane University chapter is open to students of any major. Chapter activities seek to help students become contributing members of a professional community.
Student Congress (STUCO) is the self-governing body for all students. Student Congress represents and promotes student interests and opinions and allocates funds to campus-‐recognized organizations from student fees. Senators are required to work on a personal project each semester that aims for the betterment of the Doane Community. Student Congress also sponsors special events and is invited to meet bi-annually with the Doane University Board of Trustees as representatives of the student body. The student body elects president, vice-president, and upper class senators in the spring.
Tiger Pep Band is an instrumental music ensemble open to all students and performs at home football games during the fall semester. The ensemble utilizes a student-centered, constructivist approach, providing opportunities for students to develop skills in teaching, conducting, leadership, collaboration, communication, community engagement and outreach, composing, and arranging. Upon completion of this course, students will improve their musicianship through the performance of a varied repertoire of music selected and created by the students. Prerequisite(s): none.
Wildlife and Conservation Organization (W.A.C.O.) is involved in activities including habitat conservation, outdoor events, and climate change initiatives. We encourage a better understanding of wildlife, conservation, and environmental issue affecting society and the world today.
