CRRSSA and ARP Funds Reporting

I. Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II and III Reporting – Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students

Doane University received funding through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) II authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), enacted on December 27, 2020. Doane initially reported the use of CRRSAA funds here. Doane received funding through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) III authorized by the American Recovery Plan (ARP), enacted on March 11, 2021. The following is a report as required describing the use of funds distributed from HEERF.

  1. An acknowledgment that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

Doane University signed and submitted to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution would use the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

  1. The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution's Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.

Doane University received $769,461 and $2,196,625 from the Department of Education pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) programs, respectively.

  1. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the initial report and every calendar quarter thereafter).

At the time of this report (after the calendar quarter ending June 30, 2021), Doane University distributed all available Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CRRSAA ($769,461) and a small portion of institutional funds ($13,039). Eligibility for ARP funds and distribution of ARP funds is being determined at the time of this report (July 2021).

  1. The estimated total number of students at the institution that were eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.

Doane University estimated that 1,799 students were eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CRRSSA. Eligibility for ARP funds and distribution of ARP funds is being determined at the time of this report (July 2021).

  1. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.

At the time of this report (after the calendar quarter ending June 30, 2021), 635 students received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CRRSAA. Eligibility for ARP funds and distribution of ARP funds is being determined at the time of this report (July 2021).

  1. The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) programs.

Doane distributed 100% of available student aid funds ($769,461) and a small portion of institutional funds ($13,039) immediately to eligible students (according to the federal guidelines) for which exceptional need could be determined. The methods used to determine which students received emergency aid and how much they received were initially reported on February 25, 2021, here.

  1. Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.

Doane University provided a full description of policies and procedures concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants on Doane’s dedicated COVID-19 information page, https://www.doane.edu/crrsaa-emergency-student-aid-funds-information. Emails were sent to students to inform them of the process to determine their eligibility for Emergency Financial Aid Grants and emails were sent about the emergency aid that was awarded.
