A presentation of the various patterns of symbolicycommunication used in European, African andyMiddle-Eastern cultures and civilizations, fromyprehistoric times through the later Middle Ages.yTopics include the Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge,ythe classical heritage of Greece and Rome, and theyChristian arts of Rome, Byzantium and northernyEurope. Students will be able to articulate theymeanings of artworks in their historical context.
