The Teaching of Spanish III

This course continues the transition from student of Spanish to teacher of Spanish. Topics focus on the teaching of Spanish in the high school. Students will engage in pedagogical practices intended to create environments that encourage active engagement in learning foreign languages. Students will select and utilize authentic foreign language instruction materials, including the literature of the target language appropriate for all levels of learners. Students will plan, implement, teach and assess foreign language curriculum in the target language to demonstrate an understanding of the relationships among central concepts of learning and teaching foreign languages, including the ability to communicate high expectations and create meaningful learning experiences for all students. Generally taken during the junior year. Prerequisite: Spanish 319 or permission. Offered spring term.
