The Teaching of Spanish I
This course begins the transition from student of Spanish to teacher of Spanish. Students will engage in pedagogical practices intended to create environments that encourage active engagement in learning foreign languages. Students will select and utilize authentic foreign language instruction materials, including the literature of the target language appropriate for all levels of learners. Students will plan, implement, teach, and assess foreign language curriculum in the target language to demonstrate an understanding of the relationships among central concepts of learning and teaching foreign lanaguages, including the ability to communicate high expectations and create meaningful learning experiences for all students. Generally taken during the sophomore year. Offered spring term.
