An examination of topics in the teaching andyevaluation of English in the secondary schoolycurriculum. Students will explore a variety ofystrategies for the teaching of literature. Classyparticipants study the literary elements ofypoetry, fiction, and non-fiction writing andyevaluate professional and non-professional writingyfound in secondary school classrooms. Studentsywill understand and be able to apply theyappropriate use of dictionaries and libraryyresources, both print and non-print, in the studyyof literature for the secondary school classroom.yGenerally taken during the junior year.yPrerequisite: English 324 or permission.
