Completes the study and experience in the methodsyand materials of teaching English in the secondaryyschools. The focus of this course includesycomponents for oral communication, includingyspeaking and listening. Class participants willyexplore appropriate materials for the 7-12 studentyfor the delivery of literary passages for oralypresentation, study teaching strategies such asydiscussion and conversation techniques for oralypresentation of material in the classroom, andydevelop effective communication teaching methodsyfor group presentations. Students will developyskill in the direction and production of schoolytheatre and speech activities. In addition,ystudents will participate in activities to includeycomponents of the Nebraska K-12 Content Standards.yPrerequisite: English 323,324,325, English oryEnglish/Language Arts major and enrolled in theyprofessional term, or permission.
