This course helps students understand theypotential and uses of a variety of accountingyinformation systems, including both manualyaccounting systems and computer-based systems.yIssues related to the design and evaluation ofymanagement accounting and control systems areydiscussed. Students will utilize existingytechnology to formulate solutions in the contextyof various problem and case scenarios. Uponysuccessful completion of this course, studentsywill be able to: 1) discuss the uses andylimitations of accounting information inyaddressing solutions to diverse business problems;y2) describe the limitations of traditional generalyledger based accounting systems; 3) utilize aymanual set of accounting records and documents; 4)ydifferentiate the methods used in computerizedyaccounting software; 5) explain how technologyyaffects the traditional accounting informationyprocess; 6) discuss the importance of continualylearning in the "Information Age" for accountingyprofessionals and the importance of controllingyorganization risk; and 7) apply flowcharting andysystems narratives.
