Summer Stock Experience

Provides an introduction to working professionallyyin theatre. Depending upon the strengths of theystudents, they will be either acting or doingytechnical work with a company for the length ofythe summer season. Some companies will askystudents to perform in both areas. Students willyhave various opportunities to audition forycompanies during the academic year. Uponycompletion of this experience, students will haveya firm grasp of the expectations for entering theyprofessional market. Theatre majors are highlyyencouraged to take the summer stock experienceyduring their freshman, sophomore, or junior year.yStudents need permission from the theatre facultyyto participate in the summer stock experience.yPrerequisite: Permission of the theatre facultyyand acceptance into summer stock auditions.yDeadlines for acceptance vary (usually Februaryyand March).
