Leadership Events and Opportunities
Alumni Masters Series speakers are folks who have graduated from Doane and have come to campus to share how their Doane experience led them to become leaders in their chosen field. Alumni give a personal keynote talk over lunch and visit classes in their area of specialty. Faculty in Residence are exactly what the name suggests – FACULTY members IN RESIDENCE halls….talking about anything they choose. Sometimes they come and share their interesting stories (traveling around the world on a shoestring budget), and other times they lead discussion on topics related to their field (secularization of Christmas).
Overnight Retreats are a chance for you to get away from campus for a short time, get back to nature, meet some new friends, and most importantly, focus on where you are and make plans for where you hope to grow. This year’s retreat is October 28-29, 2011. Want to come? Contact the HLP Director.
Leadershops can be any kind of activity that sparks your leadership development! We’ve had interesting speakers, volunteer fairs, movie screenings and discussion, outdoor activities (climbing walls, fun run), and displays of information that you help create with your fellow students. While Leadershops take many shapes and forms, they all add up to helping you expand you skills!
Omicron Delta Kappa is the national leadership honorary. Each year, Doane invites qualities juniors and seniors to apply for this exclusive honorary that recognizes scholarship and leadership in five critical areas of campus. Successful applicants are initiated into the group, and help plan the Student Leadership Awards Ceremony.
Relay For Life
We are proud to be the host site for the Doane College/Saline County Relay For Life event each April. This event is student-planned and involves the whole community on and off-campus.
