School of Arts & Sciences Campus Master Plan Concept
Our Campus Master Plan is big, bold and transformative. It's driven by our mission to our students, and a vision that matches the opportunities before us and our students.
To deliver the highest quality teaching and learning experience for our students requires constant evaluation and investment. Concepts for new learning spaces include a new academic building, a dedicated theatre building, much needed expansion to the Communications Building, and an addition to the Lied Science & Mathematics Building.
The award-winning Theatre Department may receive a dedicated space in the current Butler Gym building. Planning concepts include a stage area with 300 seats, design shop, storage and a lobby with a Doane art gallery. The concept also includes a black box theatre lab, classrooms and faculty offices.
The east side of campus will be the new, centralized home for Tiger athletics. The football field and track will be relocated, while the George and Sally Haddix Recreation & Athletic Center will be expanded for things like a practice gym, locker rooms, and more.
Connecting or linking Perry Campus Center with the Communications Building will offer students a host of new and expanded services. Ideas include expanded Career Development, a Library Information Commons to serve as a hub for information and technology needs and Academic Support Services, a renovated Heckman Auditorium and much more.
Three new halls will offer additional room for student living and learning. Adding the new halls near the same area as the existing halls promotes a strong sense of community.
