This course is a study of the rules of evidence,yincluding the statutory and common-law foundationsygoverning the admissibility of evidence in stateyand federal courts. Upon completion of thisycourse, students will know and understand theytypes and forms of evidence; know and understandythe rules governing the examination andycross-examination of witnesses; know andyunderstand the distinctions among real evidence,ycircumstantial evidence, hearsay evidence, opinionyevidence, and scientific/demonstrative evidence.yStudents will also be introduced to the lawygoverning confidential communicationsy(attorney-client, physician-patient,ypsychotherapist-patient, priest-penitent, andymarital privilege).
