Provides participants with the opportunity to improve their understanding of reading instruction and assessment in their classroom. By promoting the teaching of reading strategies that enhance comprehension and encourage book talk, teachers can increase learner interest and performance. The student will engage in a variety of strategies for teaching fiction and informational text. The student will also complete an assessment component including training on the use of Individual Reading Inventories, observation surveys, and other reading diagnostic tools.
