This course is a study of the basic operationalyfunctions of law enforcement agencies and theyrelationship between police and society in theyUnited States. Upon completion of the course,ystudents will have an understanding of how changesyand trends in society affect police operations andyhow a community relates to policing and itsyaffects on the problems of crime and crimeycontrol. Students will also learn patterns ofyinteraction between the police and the diverseypopulations in American society and how specialyinterest groups and politics affect the police.
