The study of human cognition, emotion, andybehavior as it is influenced by factors such asybrain structures, neurotransmission, genetics,yand hormones. Topics typically covered include ygene-environment interactions in selectedypsychological disorders and behaviors, stress asya psychological and physical phenomenon, theyrelationship between brain development andycognitive activity, and the relationship betweenyneurotransmission and addictive behaviors. yStudents successfully completing the course willydemonstrate an understanding of the empiricalyfindings in the topics mentioned, the majorytheoretical explanations for these findings, andyin general, the degree to which currentypsychological explanations of human behavior canybe related to biological factors.
