The Doane volleyball team saw a pair of win streaks fall on Saturday evening as they were tripped up by No. 18 Dordt College, 3-2. Game scores were 25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 12-25 and 15-10 in favor of the Defenders. The loss snapped an 11-match win streak and a 22-match streak at home.
Set one ended in a tough loss as Dordt erased a 22-19 Tiger lead by taking the final six points. Trailing 2-0, Doane caught fire in sets three and four and looked poised to avoid the upset but Dordt, who was coming off a five-set loss to No. 4 Northwestern three days earlier, did not fold. Doane saw a 3-1 lead erased as Dordt went on an 8-2 run and cruised to the victory.
For the match, Emily Max led the Tigers with 18 kills while Susan Rollman added 13 kills and Ashley Axmann posted 12 for Doane.
Heather Davison posted 52 set assists on the evening. Amy Kreikemeier led Doane with four aces serves, one more than Dordt had as a team.
The defense was led by Terra Andreasen's 16 digs while Desiree Erikson and Nicole Skolnick finished with 14 digs apiece. At the net, Doane received five total blocks from Max while Axmann posted three.
Doane will host Concordia on Wednesday, November 3, for Senior Day and the regular season finale. The Tigers will receive a bye in the First Round of the GPAC Tournament and will be the No. 2 seed.
