Tigers Top Elmhurst College
The Tigers used seven scoreless innings of work from Joy Vasa to come away with a 3-0 victory over Elmhurst College (IL) on Monday morning. Vasa scattered four hits and walked one while striking out three to pick up the win.
The Doane bats collected five hits, two from Molly Davis. All of the Tiger scoring occurred in the third inning.
Amy Hamik led off the inning by reaching on an error. Hamik stole second and advanced to third on a single by Julie Yost. Yost stole second to give Doane runners at second and third base with no outs.
Skyler Rowe reached on an error by the third baseman, her second of the inning, and Hamik and Yost scored the Tigers' first two runs of the game. Rowe advanced to second on the play and moved up to third a batter later on a wild pitch. She eventually came in to score on a wild pitch as well. The Tiger's scored three runs on one hit and took advantage of two Elmhurst errors.
The Tigers play College of St. Catherine in the second game of the day.
