Tigers Top Defenders in Sweep

Doane picked up two key victories in their push for the playoffs by defeating Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.  The Tiger pitching staff limited the Defenders to seven hits over the two games.

Game One (Doane 7-1)
Doane plated three runs in the first inning and never trailed as they came away victorious 7-1.  Joy Vasa led the charge as she went 2-for-4 at the plate while throwing seven innings, allowing three hits.  Vasa scored one run and knocked in two.

HaLea Messersmith posted two RBIs with a triple in the fifth inning.  Stephanie Mosley added an RBI in the first inning with a double.

All seven runs were scored by a different Tiger.

Game Two (Doane 4-0)
Megan Steele threw seven shutout innings to defeat the Defenders 4-0.  She scattered four hits while walking two and striking out three.

Doane struck in the first inning when Vasa's double scored Whitney Poole.  Vasa later scored in the inning.  She went 1-for-4 in the second game.

Molly Davis posted a 3-for-3 effort hitting in the eight spot in the line-up.  She scored one run.  Kyla Ronhovde added an RBI in the second inning.

Up Next:
Doane will travel to Mitchell, S.D., to take on Dakota Wesleyan University on April 29.  The Tigers are chasing DWU for a playoff spot.
