Tigers Take Second at Bronco Invite
The Tiger men's cross country team got their first look at the 2008 GPAC Championship course by running at the Bronco Invitational in Hastings on Saturday. The 2008 championship will be held at Elks Country Club on the east edge of Hastings on November 8.
The Tiger team finished second behind Concordia University. The course ran a little long on Saturday, instead of an 8000m course it was 8203m. Concordia finished with 30 points while the Tigers posted 59. The host school, Hastings, collected 83 points.
Sufian Kimo paced the Tigers with a third place finish and time of 26:34.2. Paul Garcia finished ninth overall and posted a time of 27:09.9. Edwin Ronoh notched a time of 27:13.6 and finished 10th for Doane.
Holden Kaliff brought home 18th place after running a time of 27:51.1. Scott Ohlson finished 25th after a time of 28:04.2. Ben DeLay ran a time of 28:49.0 and placed 38th overall. Steve Jerina rounded out the top seven runners with a time of 29:03.0 and placed 45th.
Phil Rohde finished 49th and ran a time of 29:08.5 while Derreck Donovan finished 51st with a time of 29:20.6. Justin Cox was 54th after posting a time of 29:23.0 and Omar Fernandez placed 61st after a time of 29:49.6. Jamil Chehade ran a time of 30:27.5 and placed 78th overall. Matt Rosser finished 88th at the meet with a time of 31:45.6. Andrew Ohlson ran a time of 32:28.4 and finished 94th overall.
Doane will travel to Winfield, Kan., to participate in the NAIA Mid-States Classic.
