The Tigers traveled down Highway 6 on Tuesday evening and came home with an upset victory over No. 20 Hastings College in GPAC volleyball action. Doane won 3-1 with game scores of 25-17, 25-21, 19-25, and 25-23.
Doane was led offensively by Jessy Livers' 16 kill performance. Chelsee Marvin added 14 kills and Terra Andreasen posted 13 for the Tigers as they improved to 20-6 on the year. Doane finished with 61 kills on the evening compared to 46 from Hastings.
Heather Davison led the Tiger setters with 25 set assists while Ashley Sluka posted 22. Ivie Speer added three set assists for Doane.
Behind the service line, Doane collected eight ace serves. Leading the way was Kelly Peterson with three. Marvin and Sluka added two apiece. Livers picked up one ace serve.
Defensively, the back row was solid as Emily Schwisow picked up a game-high 30 digs. Nicole Skolnick added 14 for Doane. At the net, the Tigers posted four total blocks, two apiece from Marvin, Speer and Lisa Lord.
Hastings was led by Jill Whalen's 15 kills and three blocks. Lyndi Rouzee notched 25 set assists and Melynne Kessler picked up 23 digs.
