Doane added a run in the sixth. Dakota State intentionally walked Mike Albert to get to Tharp and the Tiger sophomore came through with a single to score Spanel and give Doane an 8-6 lead.
Nathan Roth threw the final three innings without allowing a hit. He struck out four of the nine batters he faced and picked up the win.
Tharp was joined by Spanel and West with two-hit games. Albert posted three RBIs while Hincy added two for the Tigers.
