Tigers Split at Hastings Tournament

Doane came away with a split of their four-game volleyball tournament at the Bronco Invitational at Hastings College.  Doane topped Park University and St. Xavier University in three games and fell to National American and College of St. Mary.  Doane stands at 8-6 overall on the season after the tournament.

Tigers vs. National American University
Doane dropped a hotly contested match against the defending NAIA National Champions in four games.  The Mavericks won 30-27, 28-30, 30-22, 31-29. 

Leading the way for Doane was Jessy Livers who collected 12 kills.  Kari Hochstein added 11 while Chelsee Marvin posted 10.  Ashley Sluka notched 22 assists with Heather Davison adding 19.  Davison had a team best two ace serves.  Livers and Kaylee Lubken had 17 digs each.

National American was led by Daniela Oliveria's 26 kills.  Thais Bastilla added 16.

Tigers vs. Park University
Doane rallied after their opening match to defeat Park University in three games.  The Pirates were receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll.  The Tigers won 30-28, 30-15, 30-26.

Chelsee Marvin led the Tigers with 15 kills on 22 attacks and six assists blocks.  She posted a .682 attack percentage.  Jessy Livers added 13 kills for the Tigers.  Ashley Sluka notched 23 assists with Heather Davison adding 20.  Kaylee Lubken had a game-high 14 digs.

Park was led by Aigline Yoke's 12 kills.  Lavinia Vaitai added nine for the Pirates.

Tigers vs. College of St. Mary
College of St. Mary got revenge on the Tigers on Day Two of the Bronco Invite.  The Flames lost to Doane earlier in the year at the Red Raider Classic.  CSM defeated the Tigers in five games (31-29, 30-21, 27-30, 24-30, 15-11).

The Tiger middles dominated play.  Chelsee Marvin and Kari Hochstein each posted 21 kills.  Hochstein was not credited with an attack error.  Ashley Sluka had a team-high 27 assists while Heather Davison had 24.  Kaylee Lubken posted a game-high 30 digs.

The Flames were led by Amanda Cook's 26 kills.  Annie Jankowski, an All-America setter, had 64 assists, 16 digs and four assists blocks. 

Tigers vs. St. Xavier University
Doane bounced back once again from an opening day loss to win in three games.  The Tigers ousted the Cougars of St. Xavier 30-22, 30-22, 30-15.

Jessy Livers was the only Tiger to reach double digits in kills with 12.  Chelsee Marvin was next on the team with eight.  Ashley Sluka notched 21 of the teams 31 assists.  Heather Davison and Kaylee Lubken each collected three ace serves.  Marvin had six assists blocks.

St. Xavier was led in kills by Chelsey Guay with 11.

Up Next
Doane will travel back to Hastings on September 19 to take on the Broncos in a GPAC match-up.  The two rivals always put a show on for the fans.  First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM at Lynn Farrell Arena.  For those not able to attend, the match can be heard on the Tiger Sports Network.
