Tigers Snap Skid, Score Four in Second Half
Doane rallied with four goals in the second half to defeat Dakota Wesleyan, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon in Mitchell, S.D. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and improved the Tigers' record to 9-6 overall and 6-3 in the GPAC.
Monday Akogwu stuck first for Doane with a goal in the 14th minute of play. Chris Hedgecock picked up the assist. Dakota Wesleyan came back to score twice in the first half, including their second goal with 19 seconds remaining in the half.
Akogwu tied the game in the 66th, receiving a pass from Juan Padilla. Devon Strecker gave Doane the lead with a goal off a pass from Padilla. Strecker added a penalty kick goal in the 79th minute and wrapped up the scoring with a goal in the 88th minute of play. Strecker's three goals gives him 11 on the season, tied for the GPAC lead.
Chris Kavinsky picked up seven saves for Doane
Doane will travel to Hastings, to take on the Broncos on October 22 at 7:30 PM.
