Tigers Set to Start Track Season
Doane College will use the strength of several returning All-Americans and seniors to help lead the way into the start of the 2007 track and field season. The Tigers get things started this weekend with a trip to Lincoln for the Holiday Inn Invitational at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Doane returns five individual All-Americans on the women's side, as well as the 4x400 meter relay team. The men return the 4x400 meter relay team and the distance medlay relay (DMR) team from their list of 2006 All-Americans.
Coach Ed Fye is looking forward to this season with the mixture of youth and experience. Over the next two months the Tigers will try to improve each week as they prepare for the conference meet in late February.
"This first meet, we (the coaches) will do a lot of video taping so we can go back and review with each athlete on what we look for them to improve upon through the next several weeks. Each week we want to continue to improve so that we are ready to go for the conference meet. The key this weekend will be to stay healthy because we had one fewer week to prepare than in the past."
