Doane College, ranked No. 18, advanced to the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Volleyball Tournament finals with a 3-1 victory over Morningside College, ranked No. 24, on Wednesday evening in Sioux City, Iowa. Game scores were 25-21, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-15. The Tigers will face Northwestern College on Saturday, November 14, in Orange City, Iowa. In the process, Doane clinched the second automatic berth for the GPAC to the NAIA National Tournament.
Doane out-hit Morningside while also putting forth a strong block attack at the net. The Tigers hit .261 for the match while pounding out 51 kills. The Mustangs were limited to a .061 attack percentage as they finished with 45 kills. Doane finished with 12 total blocks in the match.
The Tigers were led by their outside attack of Jessy Livers and Terra Andreasen. Livers finished with 15 kills and Andreasen posted 11 kills. Susan Rollman finished with nine kills and Ivie Speer added eight kills.
Morningside received a match-high 18 kills from Emily Christen. Jamie Vander Kooi added eight kills for the Mustangs.
Rollman led the Tiger defense, finishing with nine total blocks. Andreasen finished with four blocks and Livers and Speer added three total blocks apiece. In the back row, Emily Schwisow led Doane with a match-high 13 digs. Livers picked up 12 digs for Doane.
