Tigers Rally with Road Win
The Tigers fought through another tough road game and came away victorious over Nebraska Wesleyan University, 64-53, on Wednesday evening in Lincoln. The win improved the Tigers record to 13-5 overall and 4-2 in the GPAC.
Doane trailed early on, falling behind by as many as eight points early in the contest. The Tiger's first lead since a 2-1 advantage came with 43 seconds remaining in the half on a Vanessa Munter basket. After the Tigers forced a Prairie Wolves' turnover, Lindsay Anderson hit a three-point basket as time expired to give Doane a 31-27 lead going into halftime.
Doane never trailed in the second half but Nebraska Wesleyan did use an 11-2 run to tie the game at 46-46 with 8:17 remaining. The Tigers responded with a 14-4 run to open the lead to 10 points.
Lindsay Anderson led all scorers with 21 points and tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds. Anderson also posted a game-high four assists.
Kristine Ortmeier added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers.
Nebraska Wesleyan was led by Katy Golden's 17 points while Sadie Struebing added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Doane will host No. 7 Northwestern College on Saturday, January 10. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM at Fuhrer Field House.
