Tigers Rally, Top #18 IWU
Doane used solid shooting and a few key rebounds to rally and hold on for an 80-76 victory over No. 18 Iowa Wesleyan University. Doane allowed 16 offensive rebounds which led to 18 second chance points, but when IWU needed a score late the Tigers were able to prevent second chances by pulling down big rebounds.
The Tigers were led by Lindsay Anderson's career-high 32 points. She hit 8-of-13 shot attempts, including 4-of-5 from behind the three-point arc. Anderson also connected on 12-of-15 free throw attempts, including the final two that clinched the victory.
Alissa Holland also posted a solid line, scoring seven points, grabbing 11 rebounds, dishing out five assists and blocking four shots. Becky Marsh also added seven points with Amy Fox posting six. Eleven different Tigers scored in the game.
Iowa Wesleyan was limited to 35 percent shooting as they were led by Rachel Mitchell's 15 points. The speedy point guard dished out two assists and led the team with five offensive rebounds. Jennie Mitchell added 14 points off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting.
Doane will travel to Atchison, Kansas, to take on Benedictine College. The Ravens are ranked No. 14 in the preseason NAIA poll. The two teams have split their last two meetings. The game can be heard on the Tiger Sports Network.
