Tigers Pick up First Victory
Doane's men's soccer team collected 40 total shots with 27 on goal as they cruised to a 10-1 victory over Southwestern College (Ariz.). Monday Akogwu got the Tigers on the board first, just 1:33 into the game. Kyle Smith followed with a goal in the fifth minute and Akogwu picked up his second of the match in the ninth minute. Jordan Dahlinger scored in the 16th minute to put the Tigers up 4-0. Bryce Peterson added a goal before Southwestern scored their only goal in the 33rd minute. Jose Mejia scored in the 38th minute to give Doane a 6-0 lead at halftime.
The second half was much the same for Doane. Niki Mynatt, Chris Hedgecock, Thomas Slane and Dahlinger all scored in the period. Andrew Moore led the team with two assists.
Doane will travel to McPherson, Kansas, to take on McPherson College on September 1.
