Tigers Fall in Season Finale

The Tiger's season came to a rough end as Briar Cliff University picked up their first win in the short history between the two teams.  The Chargers came out victorious 21-9, scoring 14 points in the third quarter.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard first when Justin Bailey connected for a 30-yard field goal.  Doane held the lead into the third quarter.

BCU then scored 21 unanswered points with two touchdowns coming off of passes from Kyle Gerdes to Luke Roder.  All three drives were less than 60 yards and only one scoring possession took more than 1:18 to get into the end zone.

The Tigers scored their final touchdown of the season with 0:59 left in the game when Justin Nelson caught a four yard pass from Bryan Dutcher.

Nelson ended with a game-high 92 yards rushing, a 3.2 average per carry.  Dutcher and JR Artozqui were sacked four times combined for a loss of 41 yards.

Dutcher threw for 160 yards on 10 completions while Artozqui threw for 22 yards on five completions.  Both quarterbacks threw an interception.

Edward Cody led the receivers with nine receptions for 141 yards.

The defense was led by Jack Wolfe's 11 tackles.  Simon Mitchell added 10 tackles, five solo.

The Tigers are scheduled to open the 2007 season at home versus Morningside College.
