Tigers End Skid with Win in Fremont
The Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back as they defeated previously unbeaten Midland Lutheran College 67-48 in Fremont on Wednesday evening. The loss was the first set back for the Warriors (7-1, 1-1 GPAC) and ended Doane's three-game losing streak.
Alissa Holland had a game-high 21 points for the Tigers on 8-of-10 shooting. She also added nine rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Lindsay Anderson picked up 15 points for Doane and Ashley Howard added 13. Ashley Sullwold tied for game-high honors with 10 rebounds. Lindsay Anderson also posted four assists and six rebounds.
Doane shot 40.6 percent from the floor, including a 53.6 percent mark in the first half. The Tigers out-rebounded the Warriors 52-39, collecting 20 offensive rebounds. Doane did give up 15 offensive rebounds that led to 10 second chance points.
Midland was led in scoring by Karmen Jericevic's 14 points. GPAC Player-of-the-Week Liz Sneed was limited to 10 points on 4-of-16 shooting. She collected 10 rebounds, six on the offensive end.
Doane will be in action again on December 5 when they travel to Seward to take on the Bulldogs of Concordia University.
