The Tiger men's basketball team got into the win column on Saturday afternoon with a 64-55 victory over Clarke College (IA). Doane is 1-1 on the young season.
The Tigers saw two extremes in the game offensively. In the first half, Doane shot 48-percent from the floor as they hit 15-of-31 shot attempts. They were aided by eight three-point baskets in the half. In the second half, the Tigers were only able to hit 4-of-19 shot attempts for 21-percent. However, Clarke was only able to hit 26-percent of their shots, going 14-of-53 from the floor for the game.
Doane also struggled at the free throw line, hitting 48-percent of their attempts (18-of-37).
Leading the way was Jens Scholl who went 4-of-4 from the floor and finished with 10 points. Scott Neuhalfen and Brett McFarland added nine points each. Jack Lind led Doane with 10 rebounds in the game.
Clarke was led by DeShawn Pendleton's 20 points. Thomas Ammon added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Doane will travel to Peru, Neb., for the Peru State Classic on November 7. They will take on Park University at 3:00 PM.
